Home 'bitter sweet' Home

Mr & Mrs D are both retired after working hard for the past 45 years and saving so that they could enjoy their old age. At our meeting we reviewed their existing Wills and discussed how they had come to write them in the way that they had. They explained that they thought leaving every thing to each other and then the children would ensure that they could continue to use their assets during their lifetime and then their children would benefit from what was left.

We discussed what potentially could occur from this point forward which could stop the family inheriting the estate. It soon became apparent that paying for long term care was a major concern and a thing that could wipe out most of the estate value through care costs.

By using tried and tested bloodline and estate planning strategies I was able to structure Mr & Mrs D's wealth including their home in a manner which meant that it could not be assessed for care costs without taking away any control from 2 clients who were very proud of what they had achieved during their lifetime and wanted their family ultimately to benefit.

"We are most grateful to Martin Barry, he really cares about his clients and has totally allayed our fears over the potential erosion or our estate to care costs."
